Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #7: The First Look

Introducing the seventh, and final, bottling of our much-loved annual winter Special Release.

Just 2000 bottles matured in first-fill ex-Moscatel and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry cask.

Whisky Director Joe spent the last warm weeks of summer in the warehouse, checking casks and creating the perfect marriage of rich PX, with fruity and sweet Moscatel.

We’re really pleased with this bottling, and it’s very different from the ex-Oloroso casks used for last year’s Sherry Cask Reserve #6. The phrase we use for this series is ‘incredibly rare and distinctly special’ and #7 is the perfect way to finish.

Tasting notes: Soft, rich, and complex, with flavours of dark chocolate, cherries, brown sugar, and dried fruits.

“Each year, I’ve always loved putting this release together as it’s all about finding a beautiful combination of our rarest sherry casks.

This year, for the final Sherry Cask Reserve, I had a clear idea of the flavours I was looking for – cherries and dark chocolate. Perfect as the leaves fall and late summer turns to deep autumn.

It’s the perfect ‘full stop’ to what’s been a very special series since 2020.
