From Field to Bottle…to Parliament
Our Co-Founder, David Thompson, headed to the Houses of Parliament last week.
He represented Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery at the 3rd annual English Whisky Showcase. The English Whisky Guild hosted the event in the Jubilee Room to celebrate the world-class quality of English Whisky..
We joined 14 other distilleries to showcase the incredible innovation happening across England. The message was clear: English whisky is no longer just an “emerging” industry. We are now a true global contender.
During the event, Kevin Hollinrake MP highlighted our distillery as a business leading the way. He shared how proud he is to see a local business competing with the very best in the world.
The Guild is also working hard toward achieving Geographical Indication (GI) status. This will protect the provenance of every bottle of Filey Bay. We make our whisky from 100% homegrown barley on our family farm, and GI status ensures this quality is recognised worldwide.
A huge thank you to the EWG and the MPs who joined us to toast the future. The momentum is incredible, and we’re just getting started!
