In the Spotlight: Filey Bay Brand Ambassador Amy Teasdale Shares Insights with Bar Magazine.

Intro

Amy began her journey with Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, igniting her passion for Whisky. She pushed through the distillery’s rigorous in-house training and began leading tours in 2017. From there, her role naturally evolved into education and advocacy, and she’s now been a Brand Ambassador for almost five years, working across the UK and Europe to share the story of Filey Bay and Yorkshire’s first single malt.

The Role

Delving into her role, Amy explained, “A large part of my work involves travelling, delivering tastings, training teams, and working closely with customers to ensure our story of farming regeneratively to make our whisky is told with clarity and integrity. I firmly believe the best brand ambassadors are the ones who understand every stage of production.”

Love of the Brand

Speaking on her love for the brand, Amy said, “The thing I love most about Spirit of Yorkshire is its authenticity. We are genuinely field to bottle: growing our own barley regeneratively, using our own water, distilling, maturing, and bottling on site. Every decision we make is driven by flavour rather than shortcuts or trends. I do also love getting to organise fun tasting events and meeting new people in new places, and introducing people to their first sip of whisky and seeing how they fall in love with it. Being able to represent a brand that values transparency, craftsmanship, and long-term thinking, while still encouraging curiosity and creativity, makes my role incredibly rewarding!”

The Future

Looking to the future, Amy shared her goals, “In the short term, my focus is on continuing to build great partners and support our customers, creating exciting, fun events to promote our delicious whisky, and partnerships. I love whisky, so long-term, I want to continue growing as an educator and storyteller within the industry. That means deepening my knowledge, contributing to longer-form conversations around flavour, and highlighting the people, places, and processes behind the spirits we drink!”

To conclude, Amy advised, “Stay curious and don’t be afraid to get hands-on. The best way to understand a drink, whether whisky, wine, coffee, or cocktails, is to experience every part of it. Ask questions, take every opportunity to learn, and don’t underestimate the power of human connection. And finally, don’t be afraid to carve your own path. Growth often happens in the messy, unexpected moments – even if it is with a mop and bucket.”
