Enjoying: Eat Out to Help Out - Spirit Of Yorkshire

Since the beginning of August, we’ve been taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and it’s been so great to see so many friendly, familiar and new faces every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday here at the Pot Still Coffee Shop.

The scheme finishes very soon though so you’ve got until 4pm tomorrow to make the most of 50% off (up to £10). Though we’re afraid whisky and beer aren’t included!

Filey Bay 10th Anniversary Special Release. 1/2016 bottles, a nod to the year we filled our first cask.

A marriage of whisky aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Madeira casks from our earliest days through to 2023. Including from Cask 001, filled 14th June 2016.

Tasting Notes: Rich, fruity and spicy with flavours of fruit gums, vanilla slices, stone fruit, biscuit and honey.

A true piece of Yorkshire history: the first ever ten-year-old Yorkshire single malt whisky.

14th June 2016. That was the day this bung was hammered into Cask 001.

Today, we took it out for the very first time. To stand in the warehouse and taste the first-ever 10-year-old single malt whisky made in Yorkshire is an absolute privilege. It’s hard to put into words what this moment means to the whole team.

An amazing first, and a beautiful milestone to be a part of. Cheers to a decade of distilling.

Exactly ten years ago today, history was made here in Yorkshire.

It all goes back to a conversation in 2011. Best friends Tom and Dave were chatting over a pint: "We've got barley on the farm, we've got our own water, and we already make great beer." Whisky was the next logical step.

Five years of hard work later, on the 14th June 2016, Co-Founders David Thompson and Tom Mellor officially filled our first ever cask of new make spirit.

That first cask paved the way for the Filey Bay single malt we are so proud to share with you today.
