A look back at 2025

As we enter 2026, our milestone tenth year in production, let’s take a moment to reflect on an incredible 2025.

Awards

IWSC Success – We became the most-awarded English distillery in the ‘Worldwide’ category, taking home two golds, three silvers, and three bronzes. Which was followed by us been named as one of the Top 50 Spirits Producers in the World by the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).

Other Awards – San Francisco World Spirits Competition: A Gold medal for Filey Bay Peated Finish. The Whisky Club & Farm Shop Deli: Awarded Gold to Filey Bay Flagship. World Whisky Masters: A Gold medal for Filey Bay Nurture.

From the Warehouse

The standout release of the year arrived in February: Filey Bay Orange Wine Barrique, became our fastest-selling Special Release to date, with 2000 bottles selling out in just a few weeks. The momentum continued into our annual Open Weekend where, for the first time ever, we celebrated by releasing two very special single cask bottlings alongside Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2025.

In June, we celebrated our long and successful relationships with Independently owned specialist shops with a specific single cask release just for them. Bricks and mortar shops are the backbone of whisky in the UK and many of the businesses who were allocated the single cask have worked with us since we launched our first whisky in 2019. Since then they have continued to help us tell our story of field-to-bottle whisky production to thousands of people who care about the whisky they buy and where they buy it from.

As always, we made sure to have some fun throughout the year, most notably by partnering with some of our industry friends, Decadent Drinks x Spirit of Yorkshire release and the Compass Box ‘Scot Free’ project.

The Introduction of Filey Bay Editions

The Filey Bay Editions bring our stories to life, getting into the detail of the people, the places and the passion that gives our whisky spirit. Midway through 2025 we launched our first two Editions:

Waitrose Exclusive: Filey Bay Nurture the first of our Regenerative Editions, whiskies that tell the deeper story of how and why we farm for whisky the way we do. It’s about our roots as Yorkshire farmers since 1945, our experience brewing since 2003, and our passion for distilling since 2016. Few distilleries around the world can bring all of that together, from field to bottle. Filey Bay Nurture is exclusive to Waitrose, available in over 200 Waitrose stores nationwide, as well as online at www.waitrose.com. Filey Bay Nurture landed in over 200 stores nationwide and was recently named in Whisky For Everyone’s Top 10 Whiskies of 2025.

English Heritage: Our ethos is about respecting tradition but doing things our way, so that future generations can enjoy and love the land too. And that is what this release is all about: One of our Conservation Editions, each bottle of Filey Bay ‘Heritage’ sold will help English Heritage to preserve the past and sustain its future. You can now Filey Bay Heritage find in 44 heritage sites across the UK.

What does 2026 Look Like?

This year will mark a truly momentous milestone for us: the 10th Anniversary of Filey Bay’s production. It seems like only yesterday we laid down our first casks, and to see how far we’ve come. We have a number of exciting things planned to commemorate this landmark year, and we look forward to sharing these details with you in the new year. We believe 2026 will be our most exciting year yet.
